Operating across multiple countries and supporting some of the world's most recognised organisations, our client delivers industry-leading colocation, interconnection and data centre solutions.Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Site Engineer II to join their Data Centre Operations team in London.
Your New Role
As a Site Engineer II, you will play a vital role in maintaining the reliability, resilience and efficiency of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure within a mission-critical data centre environment.You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, troubleshooting and operational activities across a range of critical systems, ensuring service levels and operational standards are consistently met.This position offers the opportunity to work within a highly technical environment and contribute to the safe operation of essential infrastructure supporting business-critical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, inspections and testing of critical electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ensure all operational activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve faults across site infrastructure.
- Support and coordinate specialist subcontractors during maintenance activities.
- Participate in incident response and emergency call-out activities when required.
- Produce accurate maintenance records, reports and documentation.
- Assist with the development and review of operating procedures and maintenance plans.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
- Provide guidance and day-to-day support to junior engineering staff.
- Contribute to a strong safety culture and promote best practice at all times.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Experience working within a mission-critical environment such as a Data Centre, Critical Facilities, Hospital, Pharmaceutical, Banking or Industrial facility.
- Technical qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of critical infrastructure systems.
- Experience maintaining electrical and/or mechanical building services equipment.
- Ability to work effectively within a shift environment.
- Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive and hands-on approach to engineering maintenance.
Technical Experience Required
Experience maintaining and operating equipment such as:
- High and Low Voltage distribution systems.
- Transformers and switchgear.
- UPS systems.
- Standby generators.
- Chillers and cooling systems.
- CRAC and CRAH units.
- Cooling towers.
- Pumps and associated pipework.
- Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Critical environment monitoring systems.
Desirable:
- HV switching experience.
- Authorised Person qualifications.
- Previous experience within a live data centre environment.
