Site Engineer (Permanent Opportunity)

Salary: £40,000–£45,000 + Package

The Opportunity

I am currently recruiting for a Site Engineer to join an established, award-winning main contractor delivering high-quality construction, refurbishment and fit-out projects across a range of sectors.

The business has an impressive portfolio spanning Hotels & Leisure, Hospitality, Commercial Offices, Education, Arts & Culture and Specialist Refurbishment, with a reputation for delivering complex, technically challenging schemes to exceptional standards.

This is an excellent opportunity to work across three London-based projects, including a major hospitality development and two commercial office refurbishment schemes. The role will offer exposure to new-build construction, structural alterations, façade works and commercial fit-out, providing an excellent platform to develop your technical expertise within a respected main contractor.

The Role

As Site Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Setting out and surveying works in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.

• Ensuring construction activities are completed accurately and in line with approved designs and technical information.

• Reviewing construction drawings, specifications and relevant technical documentation.

• Coordinating with subcontractors, site management and design teams to resolve technical queries and maintain progress.

• Monitoring quality standards and ensuring works comply with project specifications and relevant regulations.

• Carrying out site inspections, checking dimensions and levels, and maintaining accurate engineering records.

• Identifying and resolving technical issues, escalating discrepancies where necessary.

• Supporting the coordination of subcontractor activities across multiple work packages.

• Monitoring progress against the construction programme and helping to ensure works are delivered efficiently.

• Maintaining high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and site compliance.

• Assisting with quality assurance documentation, inspections and the completion of relevant site records.

Project Experience

The successful candidate will gain experience across three London-based construction projects, covering a varied range of technical work packages.

Hospitality Development

A substantial, multi-storey hospitality development involving complex construction activities, high-quality finishes and the coordination of multiple subcontractors. This will provide exposure to a technically demanding project environment, requiring strong attention to detail, accurate setting out and effective quality control.

Commercial Office Refurbishment

A refurbishment scheme involving structural alterations, remodelling and façade works, providing experience across existing-building construction and the coordination of specialist trades.

Commercial CAT A Fit-Out

A further office refurbishment project focused on delivering high-quality commercial workspace, including base-build finishes and landlord provisions, ready for future tenant occupation.

Together, these projects offer an excellent opportunity to broaden your technical experience across new-build construction and complex refurbishment.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within the construction industry.

• Experience with setting out, surveying and interpreting construction drawings.

• Strong technical knowledge and an understanding of construction methods and sequencing.

• The ability to identify and resolve technical issues on site.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with subcontractors and site management teams.

• A proactive approach to quality control, health and safety and site coordination.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous.

Candidates with experience across commercial construction, hospitality, refurbishment, structural alterations or fit-out projects would be particularly well suited.
