Location: Bracknell, Berkshire (RG42) – Free on-site parking
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
About Innovation Agritech Group (IAG)
Innovation Agritech Group (IAG) is an award-winning British agricultural technology company pioneering precision aeroponics. Our patented vertical farming systems provide high-yield, sustainable crop production with minimal water consumption and zero reliance on soil or sunlight.
Our flagship Bracknell facility (The AeroBarn) operates as our central Research & Development innovation hub, hosting cutting-edge crop trials, university research collaborations, and commercial demonstrations.
About the Role
We are seeking a practical, proactive, and hands-on Site & Facilities Supervisor to take operational ownership of the physical Bracknell facility and its technical infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering & Projects, this is an active, floor-based leadership role focused on maintaining plant equipment uptime, managing preventative maintenance, enforcing cleanroom biosecurity, and maintaining statutory site compliance.
You will lead by example on the facility floor, working closely with our part-time site operative on crop washdowns, assisting engineering leadership with new trial rig and grow lab builds, and ensuring the facility remains in an audit-ready state for commercial investors and academic partners.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance & Equipment Uptime: Conduct daily inspections of mechanical pump skids, filtration loops, aeroponic misting manifolds, sensors, and compressed air systems. Promptly diagnose and resolve pressure drops, leaks, or mechanical faults.
Mechanical & Fabric Repairs: Execute proactive and reactive maintenance across the site, including basic plumbing (pipework, push-fits, valves, drainage runs), equipment mounting, racking assembly, and general fabric upkeep.
Trial Rig & Grow Lab Builds: Assist engineering leadership with the practical mechanical assembly, pipework installation, and physical setup of new on-site R&D trial infrastructure and dedicated grow labs.
Cleanroom Biosecurity & Washdowns: Oversee and assist during crop turnaround washdowns, ensuring vertical grow panels, drip trays, flood tables, and misting nozzles are cleaned, descaled, and rehung to rigorous cleanroom standards.
Workshop & Spares Control: Maintain a well-organised workshop, tool stations, and spares inventory, ensuring replacement components and consumables are stocked.
Health, Safety & Contractor Oversight: Conduct routine statutory checks (weekly fire call points, emergency lighting, water hygiene logs, First Aid). Induct visiting maintenance contractors, verify RAMS, and enforce COSHH chemical safety.
Commercial Presentation & Visitor Hosting: Maintain all production bays, plant rooms, and grounds in a showcase condition, confidently escorting commercial clients and university partners on site walkarounds.
Weekend Rota & Security: Act as the primary local keyholder for lock-up routines and emergency alarm escalation. Participate in a scheduled weekend rota (1.5–2 hour physical checks) to inspect pumps, line pressures, and site security.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
Proven Experience: Practical maintenance or facilities supervision background within controlled-environment agriculture (CEA), commercial horticulture, cleanrooms, food production, or light industrial environments.
Hands-on Mechanical Aptitude: Confident DIY and mechanical troubleshooting skills, including basic pipework, push-fit plumbing, pump servicing, and power tool operation.
Biosecurity & Safety Standards: Solid understanding of UK workplace Health & Safety, COSHH chemical handling, and cleanroom hygiene protocols.
Communication & Leadership: Approachable, clear communicator capable of supervising site operatives, liaising with technical trades, and presenting the facility professionally to visitors.
Physical Capability: Physically fit and comfortable with active, hands-on tasks, including manual handling, washdowns, and ladder work.
Transport & Location: Full UK driving licence and personal transport (essential due to rural site location), based within reasonable commuting distance of Bracknell (RG42).
Package & Working Hours
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, on site
Weekend Cover: Scheduled weekend walkarounds on rota (1.5–2 hours) + out-of-hours keyholder call-out availability
