Site Manager / Caretaker Required - Secondary School, Perry Barr

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager / Caretaker to join a friendly and welcoming Good-rated Secondary School in Perry Barr, Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a committed and proactive individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented school environment. The school has a supportive leadership team, friendly staff and pupils, and a positive working atmosphere.

The role is full-time and will run until the end of August 2026, with the potential to become a long-term opportunity for the right candidate.

The Role

As Site Manager / Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance and security of the school premises, ensuring the site remains safe, clean and operational at all times.

Key responsibilities include:

• Opening and closing the school site
• Ensuring the security of buildings and grounds
• Carrying out basic maintenance and repairs
• Managing health and safety procedures across the site
• Monitoring contractors and external visitors on site
• Maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the school grounds
• Undertaking routine inspections and reporting any issues
• Supporting with site set-up for school events and activities
• Managing statutory compliance checks where required
• Responding to emergency maintenance issues

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience as a School Site Manager, Caretaker, Premises Manager or Facilities Manager
• Has experience working within a school environment (highly desirable)
• Possesses good DIY and maintenance skills
• Has a sound understanding of health and safety regulations
• Is reliable, organised and able to work independently
• Has excellent communication skills and a flexible approach to work
• Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
