Site Manager - Midlands Based - Nationwide Travel & Lodge
An established, privately owned Main Contractor based in Leicestershire is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join its growing delivery team. The successful Site Manager will be Midland based and must be willing to travel and lodge away. The next project is scheduled to be in Exeter.
The business delivers projects across the healthcare, commercial and education sectors, undertaking schemes ranging from £50,000 to £6.5 million across both Design & Build and pre-designed arrangements.
With a strong pipeline of work and continued growth, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager to join a professional and close-knit team, delivering a diverse range of refurbishment and new-build projects nationwide.
The Role
As a Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of construction projects, ensuring that works are completed safely, on programme, to the required quality standards and in line with client expectations.
Working across healthcare, commercial and education schemes, you will manage site operations, coordinate subcontractors, monitor progress and maintain high standards of health and safety throughout the project lifecycle.
The role will suit a proactive and experienced Site Manager with a strong background in traditional main contracting, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage projects in a live construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of construction sites from mobilisation through to completion.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, site operatives and suppliers.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with programme, budget and quality requirements.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Plan and coordinate site activities, ensuring effective sequencing of works.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the Project Manager and senior management.
- Manage site documentation, including daily records, progress reports and quality inspections.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve site-based challenges and construction issues.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Coordinate deliveries, materials and site logistics.
- Support the successful handover and completion of projects.
Education, Skills & Experience
- Relevant construction qualification, such as an NVQ Level 6, HNC/HND in Construction or equivalent.
- SMSTS qualification.
- CSCS qualification appropriate to the role.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Site Manager within a main contracting environment.
- Proven experience delivering refurbishment and new-build projects.
- Experience working across healthcare, commercial or education sectors would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, site management and project delivery.
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements and construction legislation.
- Strong subcontractor management and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel nationwide and lodge away from home.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (to be obtained by the company during onboarding).
- Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
