Tax Manager
Manchester
£55,000 plus excellent benefits
Cherry Professional is delighted to be partnering with a well-established Manchester accountancy firm to appoint a General Tax Manager to support continued growth across its local client base. You’ll work closely with the Partners, take ownership of a portfolio of owner-managed businesses and small corporates, and deliver a blend of tax planning and tax compliance across Income Tax, Corporation Tax and VAT.
The role
This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you’ll manage relationships, ensure high-quality compliance delivery, and contribute to advisory work that genuinely adds value to local businesses.
Key responsibilities

• Work directly with Partners on tax planning and advisory projects for OMBs and small corporates
• Manage a varied client portfolio and act as a trusted point of contact
• Oversee and review tax compliance work including:
  • Income Tax / Self-Assessment
  • Corporation Tax
  • VAT (supporting compliance and advising on queries as they arise)
• Spot opportunities for tax efficiencies and proactively raise planning ideas
• Support, review and develop junior team members (delegation, coaching, quality control)
• Liaise with HMRC where required and ensure work is delivered accurately and on time

About you

• Strong UK practice experience in a general tax role (planning + compliance)
• Comfortable managing a client portfolio and building long-term relationships
• Broad tax knowledge across Income Tax, Corporation Tax and VAT
• CTA / ACA / ACCA qualified
• Commercial, pragmatic approach—able to explain tax clearly to non-technical stakeholders
