Job Description:

Warehouse Team Leader (Reach truck) - Freezer (Temp to Perm)

Location: Peterborough, PE2

Pay: £14.88 per hour + £47 weekly freezer bonus

Overtime rate: £18.60 per hour

Shift: Afternoon shift, Monday to Friday 14:00-22:00 (37.5 hours per week)

Breaks: 30 minutes unpaid

Contract: Temp to perm after 3 months

Purpose of the Role

As a Warehouse Team Leader, you will lead a team of Warehouse Operatives to deliver daily pick/dispatch and goods in/out activity safely, accurately and on time. You'll coordinate resources in real time, monitor performance against targets, and ensure all policies, SOPs and legal requirements are consistently followed in a freezer environment.

Please note: This is a freezer role and temperatures can be as low as -15°C.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and supervise warehouse operatives (including agency staff) to meet customer demand and shift targets
• Plan and allocate labour and tasks to ensure all agreed work is completed on time
• Run daily shift briefs covering workload, priorities and key communications
• Manage day-to-day warehouse operations and support hands-on work on the warehouse floor when needed
• Ensure compliance with SOPs and safe/legal food handling requirements (temperature checks, equipment checks, stock rotation etc.)
• Promote hygiene and housekeeping standards, maintaining a "clean as you go" culture
• Ensure warehouse equipment is maintained and in safe working order
• Operate MHE as required and ensure daily checks are completed thoroughly
• Support regular and spot stock takes
• Complete frequent site walk rounds and report/escalate issues as required
• Maintain health & safety and quality standards; report incidents/near misses to management
• Ensure waste is segregated and disposed of correctly, recycling wherever possible
• Manage performance, attendance and conduct in line with company policies
• Where applicable, support investigations in line with disciplinary procedures

Skills, Experience & Requirements (Essential)

• Proven warehouse leadership/supervisory experience (team leader, chargehand, shift lead etc.)
• Strong knowledge of H&S and safe systems of work
• Confident communicator with the ability to brief, coach and drive standards
• Good attention to detail, numeracy and basic IT skills
• Comfortable working in a cold/freezer environment
• Valid MHE licences (D2 category) including Reach Truck, Counterbalance and Powered Pallet Truck (PPT)
