ACCOUNT MANAGER JOB SUMMARY:

On behalf of a Poole based organisation, we are looking for an experienced Account Manager, Technical Sales or Business Development professional, with a background in engineering, manufacturing or industrial distribution.

The ideal Account Manager will be commercially astute, with proven experience of managing a diverse portfolio of customers, building relationships, identifying growth opportunities and increasing sales revenue and profitability.

This is a proactive Account Management role focused on growing existing customer accounts, as well as bringing on new business through inbound sales conversions, and your own proactive business development outreach.
  
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ACCOUNT MANAGER:

• Manage and develop an existing portfolio of customers, largely within engineering and industrial sectors.
• Work closely with your customers to understand their requirements, uncover new opportunities and deliver tailored product solutions.
• Build strong relationships internally, and working cross functionally with purchasing, engineering, operations and supply chain
• Identify opportunities to increase sales, market share and profitability within existing accounts
• Generate and follow up quotations, driving opportunities through to order completion
• Whilst this is an office-based position, you will conduct account reviews, do site / customer visits (as required) and undertake growth planning activities
• Work closely with internal sales, technical support and operations teams to ensure that the order process and after sales support is managed effectively
• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts and opportunity pipelines
• Support the development of warm leads, referrals and selected new business opportunities

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: 
 
Our client is looking for an Account Manager / Business Development / Sales person with a minimum of years' experience in a similar Account Management, Technical Sales, Internal Sales or Business Development role.

• A background within engineering, manufacturing, industrial product distribution, mechanical, electrical or technical sales is essential.
• Proven experience of growing customer accounts and managing the full sales cycle
• Strong commercial awareness and relationship-building skills
• Comfortable discussing technical products and customer applications
• Experience using CRM systems and the ability to learn new processes quickly
• Excellent communication, organisation and negotiation skills
• Self-motivated with a proactive and results-driven approach.
• An engineering qualification would be advantageous, but not essential as product training will be ongoing.
