Area Sales Manager

Location: South West England

Hours: Full-time, Permanent (Monday–Friday)

The Opportunity

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established independent building/ plumbing merchant for an experienced Area Sales Manager to cover a successful network of branches across the South West.

This is a field based role focused on growing existing customer accounts, winning new business, and working closely with branch teams to drive profitable sales growth across your territory.

The Role

You'll be responsible for managing your own area, developing long-term customer relationships, identifying new opportunities, and supporting branches to achieve sales and margin targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Grow existing customer accounts and secure new business.
• Deliver profitable sales growth across your territory.
• Build strong relationships with trade customers and suppliers.
• Work closely with branch teams to maximise sales opportunities.
• Maintain an active sales pipeline and structured customer call plan.
• Monitor local market activity and competitor trends.
• Support account management, pricing and credit control where required.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• Proven success in field sales, business development or account management.
• Experience within builders' merchants, construction materials or a related trade environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• A track record of winning new business and developing existing accounts.
• Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building abilities.
• A self-motivated, target-driven approach.
