Business Development Manager – Waste Management

Location: Dagenham / East London
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 basic + bonuses

We are working with an established and growing waste management business who are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to help drive new business across East London, Essex and surrounding areas.

This is a proper new-business role.

You’ll be out in the market, building relationships, identifying opportunities and winning commercial waste accounts across a range of sectors including construction, property, facilities management, industrial and commercial clients.

The business already has a strong operational set-up behind it, so the focus is simple — go out, open doors and bring in profitable new accounts.

The Role

• Generate and develop new business opportunities across the region
• Target construction companies, contractors, commercial businesses and other waste-producing organisations
• Build your own pipeline through calls, networking, referrals, site visits and face-to-face meetings
• Attend client meetings and carry out site visits
• Prepare quotations and commercial proposals
• Negotiate rates and close new business
• Build long-term client relationships after the initial sale
• Work closely with operations to ensure new accounts are delivered properly
• Keep on top of competitor activity and opportunities within the local market
• Manage your own diary, territory and sales pipeline

The Person

We are looking for someone who is commercially switched on, confident in front of clients and comfortable developing business from scratch.

Ideally you will have experience within:

• Waste management
• Skip hire
• Recycling
• Environmental services
• Construction services
• Plant hire
• Aggregates
• Haulage
• Facilities management
• Or another related B2B service sector

Waste industry experience would be a strong advantage, although we would also consider a proven B2B salesperson with strong contacts across construction or commercial clients.

You must be comfortable with cold business development and not rely purely on inbound enquiries.
