About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, hard working and practical Caretaker to join our team at a primary school based in Handsworth.

The successful candidate will help ensure the school premises are safe, secure, clean and well maintained, providing a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the school premises.
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are clean, tidy and safe.
• Completing regular health and safety checks.
• Setting up rooms and moving furniture when required.
• Monitoring site security and reporting any concerns.
• Assisting with deliveries and contractors.
• Supporting the day-to-day running of the school site.

Essential Requirements

• Must be able to drive and hold a full, valid UK driving licence.
• Previous caretaking or maintenance experience would be desirable.
• Good practical and DIY skills.
• Reliable, punctual and hard working.
• Able to work independently and use initiative.
• Flexible and willing to support the needs of the school.

Safeguarding

The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and relevant safeguarding checks.
