We are looking for a Commercial Manager to take ownership of key customer accounts, develop product categories, and build the relationships that will drive the next phase of growth for an established importer specialising in exotics and tropical produce.

This is a role for a commercially sharp professional who enjoys managing accounts end to end, balancing customer expectations with sales and margin performance, and staying close to both growers and the market.

Role Overview

As Commercial Manager, you will lead category management across key accounts, delivering joint plans that grow sales and share. Working closely with growers, suppliers, and internal teams, you will own forecasting, identify opportunities for profitable growth, and act as the link between customers and the wider business.

Commercial Manager Key Responsibilities

• Deliver market-leading category management to support sales and share growth
• Establish, develop, and maintain commercially beneficial relationships with key clients
• Write, implement, and communicate joint category plans across all required areas
• Achieve sales, volume, and margin targets within key accounts
• Provide accurate weekly sales forecasting and account information for longer-term planning
• Contribute creatively and technically to the promotion and development of the product range
• Evaluate the supply chain continuously to identify cost savings and improve product quality and freshness
• Liaise with supply chain, procurement, technical, and operations teams to ensure quality and timely delivery
• Address sourcing and availability issues with procurement and supply chain colleagues
• Communicate technical issues internally and work with quality teams to reach resolution
• Maintain an understanding of consumer trends, competitor activity, and product lines
• Identify and deliver opportunities for profitable growth within key accounts
• Ensure adherence to administrative and financial systems and controls

Commercial Manager Key Requirements

• Customer-centric commercial experience within the Fresh Produce industry
• Proven experience managing and developing product categories
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to work closely across a commercial team
• A firm understanding of managing customer expectations while achieving sales and margin targets
• Up-to-date market knowledge of consumer trends and product lines
• Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
• Willing and able to travel, both UK and international
• Own transport, as the role is fully office based and not served by public transport links
