Electrical Estimator | Building Services | East London | £65,000–£75,000 + Car or Car Allowance + Bonus

Term Contracts & Design & Build | Tenders to £1m | Tender Ownership | Established Client Base

An established Electrical & Security Building Services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its successful Pre-Construction team in East London.

The business has built a strong reputation across London and the wider South East, working with longstanding clients across commercial buildings, healthcare, education, universities, research facilities, public-sector environments and other specialist premises.

Its estimating workload offers genuine variety. Alongside established term-contract work and repeat-client opportunities, the team prices fully specified and Design & Build projects, with electrical tender values ranging from smaller works through to approximately £1 million.

For somebody who enjoys being close to their tenders rather than becoming one small part of a large corporate estimating department, this is a particularly attractive opportunity. You will have direct access to senior decision-makers, work closely with experienced Project Managers and take genuine ownership of opportunities from initial enquiry through to submission and successful project handover.

The Opportunity

As Electrical Estimator, you will take responsibility for producing accurate, commercially competitive electrical tenders across a varied portfolio of Building Services projects.

Your role will include:

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Producing detailed electrical take-offs and cost estimates
• Quantifying labour, materials, plant and subcontract requirements
• Obtaining and evaluating supplier, wholesaler and subcontractor quotations
• Preparing commercially competitive tender submissions
• Identifying risk, buildability issues and value-engineering opportunities
• Attending site surveys, tender meetings and client discussions where required

You will work closely with the wider Pre-Construction team, Electrical and Security Project Managers, Directors, clients and the supply chain, giving you visibility throughout the tender process rather than simply producing a price and handing it over.

There is also an opportunity to contribute to the continued development of estimating software, systems and internal processes as the function evolves.

About You

We are looking for an experienced estimator who can operate with a good degree of independence and brings strong knowledge of Electrical Building Services.

You should have:

• Proven Electrical Building Services estimating experience within an Electrical or M&E contractor
• Strong experience interpreting drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Good knowledge of labour, material, plant and subcontract costs
• Experience obtaining and negotiating supplier, wholesaler and subcontractor quotations
• Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and value-engineering capability
• The confidence to manage several tenders, deadlines and client requirements simultaneously
• A sound understanding of electrical installations, regulations and current industry standards

Experience using Eque2 Evaluate would be particularly advantageous, although strong candidates using comparable estimating software will also be considered.

An Electrical City & Guilds or NVQ qualification would be beneficial, together with 18th Edition, HNC or strong BS7671 knowledge. CCTV or Security systems experience would also be useful but is not essential.
