Electrical Maintenance Technician

If you’re an Electrical Maintenance Technician who enjoys figuring out why something isn’t working rather than simply being told which part to replace, this could be right up your street.
This is proper industrial electrical work.
You’ll be working across a large manufacturing site, looking after the electrical systems that keep everything running.
Some days that means planned maintenance.
Others, you’ll be installing or modifying equipment, tracing a fault or working out how an existing electrical system can be improved.
And you’ll be trusted to get on with it.
As Electrical Maintenance Technician, you’ll work with minimal supervision, using your electrical knowledge to diagnose problems and decide the safest and most practical way to put them right.
You’ll carry out electrical installations and modifications, inspection and testing, cable sizing and selection, cable management and work on electrical control panels.
There’s AC and DC equipment to understand, electrical schematics to read and, when required, you’ll produce your own diagrams to explain a problem or proposed solution.
This is an industrial environment, so we’re not looking for someone whose experience is purely domestic.
You’ll need a proper understanding of electrical engineering and the confidence to apply it around manufacturing equipment and site electrical systems.
You’ll ideally hold an ONC in Electrical Engineering, NVQ Level 3 Electrical or equivalent, alongside a good working knowledge of BS7671 / I.E.E. Regulations.
If you’ve built that knowledge through years of hands-on industrial electrical experience, though, we’d still like to hear from you.
You’ll understand safe isolation and Lockout/Tagout, inspection and testing and the electrical hazards that come with working in an industrial environment.
Experience with AC/DC motors, control panels, fixed wiring, predictive maintenance or CMMS would all be useful too.
There’s planned maintenance to record and a CMMS to keep updated, but the important bit is what happens away from the computer.
Can you look at an electrical problem, understand what the system should be doing and work out why it isn’t doing it?
That’s what they need.
You’ll also work alongside other engineers and apprentices, sharing what you know and helping develop the people around you.
You’ll be rewarded with a salary of £37,000–£40,000.
And unlike plenty of maintenance roles, this one is days.
Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–4:30pm and Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm.
So, if you’re already an Electrical Maintenance Technician, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Industrial Electrician and want to use your electrical knowledge in a proper manufacturing environment, this one is worth a conversation.
