Field Service Engineer

UK-wide travel | £33,280-£52,000 basic, depending on experience | OTE £75,000+ including overtime
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday | Hotels and meals provided as required
Do you enjoy solving machinery problems on site and having the independence to see a job through? This is an opportunity to work on specialist rail and construction plant for customers across the UK, with support from a wider engineering team.
The machinery includes road-rail excavators and other heavy equipment. Your work will cover fault diagnosis, repairs, inspections and upgrades, so no two customer visits will be quite the same.
You'll:
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
Inspect, service and maintain heavy plant at customer sites
Install modifications, upgrades and safety systems
Use drawings, schematics and diagnostic information to identify problems
Advise customers, manage your workload and complete service reports
Carry out LOLER and PUWER inspections where competent and authorised
Work to the safety standards required for rail equipment
You'll need experience with construction plant, rail plant, HGVs or similar heavy equipment, strong diagnostic ability and the confidence to work independently at customer sites. An NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, Construction Plant or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience, and a full UK driving licence are required.
Rail experience would be useful, but it isn't essential if your heavy plant background is strong. The role involves UK-wide travel, nights away when required and occasional international travel.
