Senior Electrical Engineer | Kent | Consultancy

Up to £65k

A lot of electrical engineers in consultancy spend their time on concept and feasibility work and rarely see the detailed design through. This role is the opposite. It's with a growing MEP consultancy whose Kent office focuses on the technical end of the process, producing RIBA Stage 4 detailed design and construction-level information through to commissioning, much of it for mechanical and electrical contractors.

The business has three offices across the South East and East of England, with Kent as its original and busiest office. Each office runs as its own business, but projects and people move freely between them, and the client base is loyal, with around 90% of clients returning and most work won through negotiation rather than tender. The Kent team is now looking for a Senior or Intermediate-Senior Electrical Engineer.

The Role

• Delivering electrical design mainly at RIBA Stages 4 to 6, from detailed technical design through construction information to commissioning
• Covering power distribution and switchgear, lighting and controls, lightning protection, fire alarm and detection, access control, security and CCTV, and AV
• Working across education, residential, commercial, industrial and a growing healthcare portfolio
• Collaborating closely with mechanical and public health engineers and in-house Revit technicians in one coordinated MEP model
• Focusing on design delivery. Winning new work isn't expected at this level

About You

• An Intermediate-Senior or Senior Electrical Design Engineer from a consultancy or design and build background
• Genuinely confident producing Stage 4 detailed design. This is the key requirement, and contractor-side experience isn't essential
• Technically strong, with a solid working knowledge of the relevant British Standards, RIBA stages and BSRIA BG6. You won't need to quote clauses, but you'll know where to look
• Revit skills are a bonus rather than essential. If you want to learn, you'll get the licence, hardware and support to do so
• Happy working mainly in the office. Home working is available on request, but the team works best together in person
