Job Description:
Sapien is working with an established engineering manufacturer specialising in laboratory and process equipment, automated packaging machinery and production lines to recruit an Internal Sales Executive based in Haywards Heath.
We're looking for an ambitious, energetic individual who enjoys building relationships, speaking with people and turning opportunities into sales. This role would suit someone currently working in customer service, customer success, a call centre or an internal sales environment who is looking to take the next step in their career.
You'll need to be confident picking up the phone, speaking to new people, following up leads and proactively chasing business. We're looking for someone who takes initiative, thrives on building relationships and is motivated to turn potential opportunities into sales rather than simply waiting for enquiries to come in.
Key Responsibilities

- Proactively contact prospective customers by telephone and email to qualify leads and identify new sales opportunities.
- Prepare and issue quotations, working closely with the Field Sales team to ensure customers receive accurate and timely information.
- Follow up on outstanding quotations and proposals issued by the Field Sales team to help convert opportunities into orders.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with prospective and existing customers.
- Support the Field Sales team with customer communications, sales administration and account management.
- Nurture leads and maintain regular contact with potential customers throughout the sales process.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, enquiries, quotations and sales opportunities.
- Work towards agreed sales activity targets and contribute to the wider team's performance.
Key Requirements
- Experience in a customer-facing role where communication and relationship-building are central to the job.
- A confident telephone manner and a willingness to make outbound calls and follow up with prospective customers.
- Ambition, energy and a genuine desire to succeed in a sales environment.
- A proactive and resilient attitude, with the confidence to chase opportunities and convert conversations into business.
- The ability to build rapport with a wide range of customers.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple enquiries and follow-ups.
- A target-driven mindset, with the motivation to achieve results and continually improve.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a sales team while taking ownership of individual responsibilities.
