Operations Manager

Location – Bury St Edmunds
Salary - £34k-£36k

The Opportunity
My client was set up in 1985 when the noticed a gap in the market for a more professional, centralised approach to security. From their headquarters in Suffolk, they have grown a respected business that provides a professional, tailored service to an extensive list of clients in the Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Thetford, Ely, Newmarket and Ipswich area. Their relationships with clients have historically tend to be long-lasting, with several contracts dating back to their very early days. Their services include CCTV monitoring; Mobile Patrol and Key holding services and static manned guarding. They are NSI gold accredited and hold approved contractor status with the SIA. I am currently on their behalf looking for an Operations Manager based at their head office. The role is contracted at 48 hours but as a small company with a family run feel they can offer flexibility that a larger organisation cannot, so you will not be chained to your desk, however in return they will expect you to be contactable out of hours to deal with an issue if required.

The Duties

The role has a broad spread of tasks, but the main tasks are as following

• Rostering the business’ officer force of circa 90 using a Logosoft system. The role holder will be the main input for the production of the roster (up to three months in advance). The Officers receive their shifts on a monthly basis, but any changes such as sickness cover, holiday, welfare leave etc would in the main be the Operations Manager’s responsibility. To ensure the best fit of officer to site, the role holder will get to know the officers with regular contact (face to face, via phone and email). To learn their own little foibles, personalities etc. Many of the officers are multi-site trained.
• Taking the lead for NSI gold and SIA audits and inspections.
• Improve policies and procedures
• Undertake the writing of assignment instructions and risk assessments.
• Ensuing customer relationships are maintained and enhanced, ensuring any requests or issues are dealt with as soon as possible.

Candidate requirements

• For this role I am looking for candidates who have a broad knowledge of the operational elements of running manned security services and contracts
• Possess a full UK driving licence
• Ideally reside within 15-20 miles of Bury St Edmonds
• Have a “can do” and “hands on” attitude
• Be a team player
• Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and be forward thinking
• Have a knowledge of electronic security solutions
• Have a desire to progress further in the business into a senior position as well as becoming a shareholder

Salary £34k-£36k depending on experience, full expensed car, mobile, laptop, 28 days holiday, NEST pension
