Job Description:

Production Technology Engineer

Job Purpose

The Production Technology Engineer provides Production Technology support to the Asset team, ensuring economic production from the Morecambe fields is maximised every day through to end of field life.

The Production Technology Engineer will work collaboratively across Production Technology, Production Engineering, Subsurface, Operations and other asset teams to identify and implement opportunities that improve well and reservoir performance, optimise production and minimise production losses.

Key Accountabilities and Role Deliverables

As a Production Technology Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing well and reservoir management activities that optimise daily production from the Morecambe fields.

Key responsibilities will include:

Develop and implement well and reservoir management activities to maximise safe, reliable and economic production.

Develop and maintain a structured well surveillance plan to ensure wells are operated within their safe operating envelope.

Lead the preparation of short-term production forecasts for the assets, ensuring forecasts are robust and based on sound production engineering principles.

Provide input into the assumptions and technical basis used for long-term production forecast preparations.

Ensure appropriate well and system network models are available, maintained and used effectively to support production optimisation and decision-making.

Identify new technologies and, where appropriate, mature existing solutions that can support the Production Technology Engineer in maximising production from existing wells.

Chair daily and weekly production optimisation meetings, ensuring all wells and facilities are reviewed and optimised to maximise production.

Generate and manage the asset choke model and collaborate with relevant teams to identify production bottlenecks, constraints and opportunities for production performance improvement.

Ensure production losses are identified, quantified and recorded accurately, with appropriate actions implemented to mitigate losses and prevent recurrence.

Provide input into the annual budget process, ensuring required well interventions and production optimisation activities are appropriately identified and budgeted.

Act as a Lead Investigator using Kelvin TopSet investigation techniques to support business requirements and identify root causes of production and operational issues.

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver production optimisation opportunities and support the achievement of asset production targets.

Perform any other associated duties as reasonably required by the business.

Technical Skills and Competencies

The successful Production Technology Engineer will demonstrate:

Strong Production Engineering or Petroleum Engineering skills, with the ability to critically review and challenge the validity of production forecasts.

A sound understanding of well and reservoir performance and production optimisation techniques.

Experience in well surveillance, well and reservoir management and production performance analysis.

An understanding of gas processing processes and the impact of facilities constraints on production performance.

Experience with production and network modelling and the ability to interpret model outputs to support operational and strategic decisions.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify production constraints and develop practical solutions.

The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical information clearly to a range of stakeholders.

Experience of production loss management, root-cause investigation and continuous improvement would be advantageous.

Qualifications

The Production Technology Engineer should be educated to degree level, ideally in a subsurface, petroleum engineering, production engineering or related technical discipline.

Relevant professional experience in Production Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or Production Technology within the oil and gas industry is highly desirable.

Key Success Factors

The Production Technology Engineer will be successful by:

Maximising safe and economic production from the Morecambe fields.

Ensuring wells are actively monitored and operated within their safe operating envelope.

Delivering accurate and credible short-term production forecasts.

Supporting robust long-term production forecasting assumptions.

Identifying and removing production bottlenecks and constraints.

Minimising production losses and preventing recurrence through effective investigation and corrective action.

Identifying and delivering production optimisation opportunities throughout the remaining field life.

Working effectively with Asset, Operations, Subsurface, Production Technology and other multidisciplinary teams.

The Production Technology Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the Morecambe assets continue to deliver safe, reliable and economically optimised production through to end of field life.
