Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer – Wastewater (Non-Infrastructure Projects)
Location: Reading - Hybrid
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + Benefits
Shift Type: Monday – Friday
The OpportunityWe are currently supporting a leading UK utilities organisation in the appointment of a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their wastewater non-infrastructure projects team.
This is a highly impactful role, offering the opportunity to contribute to the modernisation and resilience of wastewater treatment assets, supporting environmental improvements and long-term infrastructure sustainability. You will play a key role across the full project lifecycle, from early design through to commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee electrical design development across multiple wastewater projects from feasibility through to delivery
- Develop clear and robust technical specifications and contractual briefs
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities to support accurate scope and cost definition
- Review contractor designs, drawings, and pre-construction information
- Provide technical assurance and support design changes during construction
- Support commissioning and handover to ensure safe and effective asset delivery
- Lead and contribute to design reviews with a focus on safety, sustainability, and operability
- Act as key contact for CDM Designer / Principal Designer responsibilities
- Promote a strong health & safety culture across all project activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and asset performance
About You- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards (or equivalent professional qualification)
- Proven experience working with LV, MV and HV systems within utilities or process industries
- Experience in wastewater or water treatment projects (design, upgrade, or rehabilitation)
- Strong understanding of technical design development and project delivery
- Experience working in a regulated environment
- Knowledge of CDM 2015 and construction health & safety practices
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across internal teams and contractors
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
