The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy supporting major long-nuclear decommissioning programmes. You will play a key role in delivering complex mechanical solutions within a challenging, highly regulated environment.

Your duties and responsibilities will be- Develop and specify mechanical handling systems and equipment, including lifting and crane solutions for critical environments
- Produce engineering designs for specialised components such as shielding systems, process tanks, vessels, and pipework used for material transfer and storage
- Contribute to early-stage project development, including concept design work and preparation of engineering documentation for risk assessments such as HAZOPs
- Support the design and integration of both standard and bespoke remotely operated equipment for handling complex materials
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs align with project requirements, including infrastructure services and site constraints
You will have the following qualifications and experience- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Extensive experience working in a highly regulated sector, with strong preference for nuclear or similar industries
- Proven expertise in designing mechanical systems, mechanisms, or bespoke equipment for complex engineering environments
- Strong understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and best practice relating to safety, quality, and compliance
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload effectively and deliver results within programme and budget constraints
