Job Description:
This is a fantastic opportunity for senior level mechanical engineers to join a world leader in advanced manufacturing technology. This is a global engineering powerhouse with decades of experience, and you’ll have the chance to work at a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility alongside a team of specialists within R&D. you will play a key role within the R&D function, designing and developing next-generation products used across a wide range of industrial applications.
Role Overview You'll be responsible for the mechanical and opto-mechanical design and development of new products from concept through to manufacture, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions for a complex product portfolio. This is a highly visible role within the Product Development team, offering involvement across the full product lifecycle and significant influence on the successful introduction of new technology.
Key responsibilities will include:- Design and development of mechanical/opto-mechanical components through to manufacture
- Detailed design drawings and procurement specifications and finite element modelling of mechanical and thermal performance
- Liaise with suppliers to support product design, specifications and product compliance
The successful candidate will have 5+ years’ experience supporting complex engineered products throughout their lifecycle, within a related or similar high-tech industry. All candidates should also bring a degree/technical qualification in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Essential experience:- 3D CAD software package (ideally Solidworks) and MS Office
- Design for assembly, manufacture, service and reliability
- Design for thermal management (a/c or w/c heatsinks, ideally experience with CAB/Vacuum brazing)
Preferable experience:- Experience in electro-mechanical design including integration of PCBs, connectors and cabling
- Mechanical system design, including FEA, CFD and ingress protection.
- Previous experience with fibre optics or lasers would be highly beneficial
