📋 Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor
We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction and engineering contractor in Dublin.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to take ownership of the commercial management of projects, working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers and the wider construction team.
You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered successfully from a commercial and contractual perspective, while identifying risks and opportunities and supporting the development of junior members of the commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the commercial management and strategy of projects
- Manage projects commercially from procurement through to final account
- Prepare tenders and manage subcontractor selection, negotiation and appointments
- Prepare valuations, financial forecasts, cash flow projections and cost reconciliations
- Manage and agree variations, ensuring accurate supporting records are maintained
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Manage contractual claims and disputes
- Review and oversee cost value reconciliations
- Provide accurate commercial reporting to senior management
- Support pre-construction and tender teams with commercial input
- Manage complex subcontract agreements
- Provide commercial and contractual advice across NEC and JCT contracts
- Manage contractual correspondence, warranties, bonds, guarantees and letters of intent
- Liaise and negotiate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders
- Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors within the team
About You
To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Previous experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or experienced Quantity Surveyor
- Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual management
- Experience working with NEC and/or JCT contracts
- Experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary construction projects
- Strong knowledge of procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Good understanding of contract law and dispute resolution
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Strong commercial awareness with the confidence to challenge and support project teams
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior commercial staff
