Service Engineer - Flow Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Hours: 40 per week (Mon-Thurs 07:00-16:15, Fri 07:00-12:00)

Contract: Permanent

We are excited to be working with our client who are a leading manufacturer of world‑class flow measurement equipment. They are seeking a hands‑on, technically strong Service Engineer to join their Quality Engineering & Service team at their Wellingborough facility. This role is ideal for an experienced electro‑mechanical engineer who enjoys fault‑finding, structured problem‑solving and delivering high‑quality technical support to customers across industries such as oil & gas, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical, marine and nuclear.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for repair activities, customer complaint investigations and warranty claims for advanced flow measurement products. The role involves fault diagnosis, detailed inspections, calibration support and producing clear technical reports that help drive product reliability and customer satisfaction. You'll work closely with the Lead Service Engineer and wider technical teams, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting the development of new repair technologies and precision methods. This is not a graduate position so proven experience and knowledge will need to be demonstrated.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct technical investigations, fault diagnosis and non‑destructive disassembly
• Support repair, calibration and customer complaint/warranty processes
• Produce clear, evidence‑based technical reports and root cause analysis
• Liaise with engineering specialists to validate findings and corrective actions
• Use diagnostic tools, bespoke control systems and business platforms (ERPLN, QSYS, OMETA)
• Provide technical support to customers and internal teams
• Work collaboratively across departments to improve product reliability and service performance
• Contribute to structured problem‑solving activities including 8D, PFMEA and RCA
• Promote knowledge sharing and cross‑functional training within the service team

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Time‑served engineering apprenticeship with Level 3 qualification (HNC Level 4 desirable)
• Strong electro‑mechanical fault‑finding and service experience
• Experience using automated configuration/diagnostic tools
• Good general engineering knowledge
• Computer literate (Word, Excel)
• Experience with ERP systems (Infor/SAP)
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
• Customer‑focused, methodical and professional approach

Desirable:

• Experience in technical manufacturing, testing or service environments
• Experience in process industries
• Six Sigma / SPC / FMEA / CI experience
• Knowledge of Pressure Equipment / ATEX Directives
• Experience with process instrumentation and calibration techniques
• Offshore certification/experience
