Structural Project Engineer

Role: Civil/Structural Engineer (Projects)
Location: Tata Steel, Port Talbot Works, Swansea, SA13 2NG
Salary: £60,000 per annum
Contract length: initially until Dec 2027 but with the potential to be until Mar 2028
Shift Patterns: Mon-Fri, 36.5 hours per week. Typical hours are Mon-Thu 08:30-16:45 and Fri 08:30-15:45, however flexibility is required but also given
Start: ASAP pending the successful completion of a medical assessment which includes a drug and Alcohol test
Responsibilities:
Providing safety leadership across civil & structural works in compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and H&S legislation
Leading end-to-end delivery of major civil & structural CAPEX projects (>£100m) from mobilisation to handover
Coordinating civil and structural design activities across partners, consultants, and contractors
Managing principal contractors, construction management partners, and specialist subcontractors
Establishing and maintaining robust quality assurance and quality control processes
Leading daily project controls
Maintaining six-week look-ahead plans
Tracking programme milestones
Managing interfaces between Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Operational workstreams
Managing project budgets, change control, variations, and compensation events (NEC environment)
Maintaining risk registers, opportunity plans
Presenting daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports to senior stakeholders
Leading, coaching, and managing a team of project engineers
Essential requirements:
Degree education in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
10+ years' experience in senior project management roles delivering major civil and/or structural construction projects
Driving Licence and access to own vehicle (due to nature of the site)
Proven track record delivering major UK civil and structural construction projects (>£100m CAPEX preferred)
Significant experience managing EPC, EPCM, construction management, and principal contractor delivery models in live brownfield/industrial environments
Strong understanding of UK construction legislation (CDM 2015, Health & Safety at Work Act)
Strong commercial awareness and experience with contract management principles (NEC contract environment preferred)
Desirable requirements:
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Chartered Project Manager status
