We are working with an Ofsted-registered children’s home that is looking for caring, reliable and dedicated Support Workers to join their team.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will play an important role in providing day-to-day care, support and guidance to children and young people living in the home.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing high-quality care and support to children and young people.
• Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with the young people.
• Supporting young people with their daily routines and personal development.
• Encouraging independence and helping young people develop life skills.
• Supporting education, hobbies, activities and community engagement.
• Following individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
• Promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
• Supporting young people during challenging situations and managing behaviours appropriately.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and daily reports.
• Participating in team meetings, training and supervisions.
• Working closely with colleagues, families, social workers and other professionals.
• Following all safeguarding procedures, policies and regulatory requirements.
• Providing a safe, stable and nurturing environment for the young people.

About You

We are looking for individuals who are caring, resilient and committed to improving the lives of children and young people.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people in a residential, care, education or support environment.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex needs or challenging behaviours would be desirable.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• A patient, compassionate and child-centred approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins where required.
• A relevant Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare / Children & Young People would be desirable, but is not essential for the right candidate.
• A genuine commitment to supporting the development and wellbeing of young people.
