Service Manager – Progression Opportunity
Milton Keynes | £40,170 - £43,000 | 35 Hours | Monday-Friday
Ready to take the next step from Deputy Manager to Service Manager?
Brainkind is the UK's leading charity specialising in neurological care and brain injury rehabilitation. We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager or Acting Manager who is ready to progress into their first Service Manager role at Brownswood, our specialist residential service in Milton Keynes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong deputy-level leadership experience who is ready for greater responsibility, but wants to make that progression within a supportive environment. You will receive guidance and support from the wider management team and work alongside an experienced Assistant Manager/Deputy who knows the service and residents well.
About Brownswood
Brownswood is a small 9-bed specialist residential service currently supporting 8 adults living with acquired brain injuries and complex neurological conditions.
Many residents have made Brownswood their home for a number of years and are supported to live active, fulfilling lives within their local community. The service benefits from an experienced and established team and is currently rated Good by CQC.
This is not a turnaround service. Brownswood is stable and has strong foundations in place, making it an ideal environment for an experienced Deputy Manager to take their first step into Service Management with the right support around them.
The Role
As Service Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of Brownswood, ensuring the service continues to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care while developing your experience and progressing towards Registered Manager responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the staff team and oversee day-to-day service delivery.
Maintain CQC compliance, governance and quality standards.
Oversee staffing, recruitment, supervision and development.
Manage service performance, resources and budgets.
Build strong relationships with residents, families and professionals.
Promote independence, rehabilitation and community participation.
Drive continuous improvement across the service.
Work closely with senior management and the existing Assistant Manager/Deputy.
About You
This role is particularly suited to an experienced Deputy Manager ready to progress rather than someone who has already spent several years operating at Registered Manager level.
We are looking for someone who understands specialist care and can demonstrate consistent leadership experience within services supporting people with complex needs.
Essential
Minimum 2-3 years' Deputy or Acting Manager experience within adult social care.
Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care, or currently in the final stages of completing it.
Experience supporting adults with acquired brain injury or neurological conditions.
Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding and quality standards.
Experience leading teams, supervising staff and supporting service operations.
Confidence and ambition to progress into Registered Manager responsibility.
Full UK driving licence.
Why Join Brainkind?
